TV critics don’t know anything, The Orville is great

The Orville is great, you should watch it.

It’s not perfect, and there are plenty of kinks they need to work out. But the pilot episode was fun. That’s the key word: fun.

Thankfully, Seth MacFarlane toned himself down and acted like a normal person. Bobbi Morse is perfect casting for the secretly-manipulating-everything XO. I want to hang out with Malarky and his friend Justin the Ogre.

[I’m still learning names.]

Everyone is going to compare The Orville with Star Trek Discovery, and that’s not fair. STD is going to be a monotonous and dreary exploration of explosions. The Orville is a fun spaceship show.

Where Star Trek features the best crew and the best ship going on galaxy-saving missions and fighting literal gods, The Orville is what would happen if me and my friends manned a spaceship. You bet your ass we’d all notice the dog licking his balls right away.

A quick survey of the critics lets me know that TV reviewers have forgotten what TV is about, first and foremost: entertainment. Good shows don’t need incestuous dragons and 30 plot twists to be good. They need to be fun.

The Orville is fun. Watch it.

Look, Kasidy Yates got her MD!
