Star Trek Discovery Episode 11 was a waste of everyone’s time

It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of Star Trek Discovery. I think that crippling mistakes have been made at every level and at every turn by everyone involved. It’s a show that features unlikeable characters doing nonsensical things in a setting that bears little resemblance to the Star Trek universe. The first half of the Season 1 was riddled with boring episodes, meaningless episodes, and even contradictory episodes. The second half started off strong by letting Jonathan Frakes actually direct a Star Trek episode, but it took a hard nosedive immediately after.

Cool uniforms, though. Albeit, lacking midriff.

Episode 11 is about revelations. The everyday brutality of the Mirror Universe is revealed to Burnham. Burnham’s status as an imposter is revealed to the Rebels. Tyler is Voq is Tyler is revealed to Burnham and the Disco crew. Tilly reveals a newfound confidence as she uses her time as Captain Killy to bolster her sense of self-worth. It is revealed to the audience that Stamets and Mirror Stamets are tiptoeing through the tulips. There’s the reveal everyone predicted last week: Georgiou is the Emperor. And the final reveal: the Disco crew now has the data on the USS Defiant.

It’s not a bad theme. But like so many other examples in this show’s brief history, the execution ruined everything.
