Finally, a Star Trek cartoon! Wait, what?

Today in “I was having such a good day”:

Yep, you read that headline correctly. Paid shil… entertainment magazine VARIETY revealed that CBS had ordered two seasons of a half-hour cartoon from Mike McMahan. You might know him from his work on “Rick and Morty,” or more appropriately you might know him as the brain behind TNG: Season 8.

I’ve been following @TNG_S8 since, well, it says it started it 2011, so since 2011. It’s a hilarious twitter account.

According to the VARIETY press relea… ethically righteous journalism article, McMahan is an avid Trekkie and he made this remark, to which I genuinely laughed out loud:

“While ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ is a half-hour, animated show at its core, it’s undeniably ‘Trek’ — and I promise not to add an episode at the very end that reveals the whole thing took place in a training program.”

(That’s an Enterprise reference, Discovery fans.)
