About that new STD S2 Trailer

Alright, five thoughts on the brand spanking new STD season two trailer released today at SDCC!!!!!! YAY!!!!!

1. Burnham’s monologue, ugh.
They clearly made a *lot* of tonal and writing changes for this year, you can tell just from the trailer. (And the complete overhaul of the writing and production staff, too.) But if I could go in there and smack them upside the head anytime someone suggested a Burnham monologue, I would. Of course, they could try using Personal Logs as narrative framing devices if they wanted to hear Burnham pontificate… but that’s probably not modern storytelling enough.

Wait a second… is Alex Kurtzman involved in this?

2. Pike takes command of the Disco.
I can’t tell if I hate this idea or love this idea or love this idea because it means they won’t screw up by using the Enterprise or hate this idea because they’re still depending on rewriting the past of the franchise. I dunno. Either way, let’s hope this signals a new on-screen dynamic for Starfleet. Because Season 1’s…
